正确答案:Dear Mr. Burke:I find it rather awkward to answer your letter about Mr. Alan Roberts. I like him personally but I cannot in all fairness recommend him to you.Robert is unquestionably a talented young man with a flair for the dramatic and a real sense of showmanship. He was program director of two of our daytime shows for about a year; and he certainly knows his business and can do a good job if he wants to.But that's just the trouble: he doesn't always want to. Sometimes he wants to drink in stead and then you can't depend on him. He'll walk out on the job for a couple of days and let somebody else take over... That's why he isn't here any more.I'm sorry to have to tell you this because Roberts has great talent and ability and he could probably become the best program director in radio if he didn't drink.Perhaps if you talked the situation over with him and gave him the job on the understanding that he'd be fired the first time he took a drink it might make a difference. I think it would be worth trying because he has so much to offer.Sincerely yoursHarold Taylor
